YoLink, a leader in smart home technology, offers long range innovative smart home products for indoor and outdoor use. There are some differences between YoLink products for the US and UK \ EU markets to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Product Codes: UC vs. EC

YoLink products are categorised by region using specific product codes:

UC: Products designed for the US market.
EC: Products designed for the UK and European market.

For Example, the YoLink Speaker Hub can have one of two model numbers YS1604-EC and YS1604-UC

These codes help users identify the appropriate model for their region, ensuring compatibility with local wireless frequency standards.

Frequency Bands and Regional Regulations

The primary difference between YoLink products for the US and UK \ Europe lies in the wireless frequency bands they operate on:

US Models (UC): Operate on the 915 MHz frequency band, which is standard in the United States and Canada.
European Models (EC): Operate on the 868 MHz frequency band, which complies with UK and European regulations.

These frequency bands are allocated for specific uses in each region, and using a product designed for one region in another may interfere with local wireless communications.

Cross-Regional Usage: A Word of Caution

While YoLink products can technically function in different countries, using a model outside its designated region may violate local transmission rules and laws.

The US and UK \ European products can not communicate with each other. So be sure to buy models designed for the same region.

If you are going to be using YoLink products in the UK or EU make sure you purchase products that have a model number ending ‘EC’.

The US products, model number ending ‘UC’ will work in the UK and Europe, but the wireless frequency band they use to communicate may be breaking UK or EU broadcasting rules \ laws.

It should also be noted that the ‘UC’ products will not work with the ‘EC’ products.
