FAQ
What is the Ecowitt GW2000 Gateway
The GW2000 is a indoor weather station hub designed for collecting and managing real time environmental data. It serves as the central communication node for a range of Ecowitt sensors, making it an ideal solution for both dedicated weather monitoring and broader smart home integrations.
Which sensors and environmental parameters does the GW2000 support
The GW2000 is compatible with all current Ecowitt sensors.
How do I connect the GW2000 to my network
The device offers dual connectivity options:
- Wi‑Fi: Connect using the 2.4 GHz frequency band for wireless networking.
- Wired Ethernet: Connect it to your network using an Ethernet port. You can also utilise an external Power over Ethernet (PoE) splitter if you prefer a wired power solution.
What online services and platforms can I integrate with the GW2000
The GW2000 supports multiple integration options, including:
- Ecowitt’s native services, which allow data to be sent directly to Ecowitt’s own online portals.
- Third-party weather services, such as Weather Underground and WeatherCloud, for seamless data forwarding.
- Smart home systems, including Home Assistant and HomeSeer, for local automation.
These integrations facilitate online data display and also enable automation triggers based on sensor readings.
Can I customise how often the GW2000 updates sensor data
Yes. The device allows you to set custom update intervals, typically ranging between 1 and 5 minutes. This customisation enables you to balance data timeliness with network efficiency according to your needs.
Is it possible to send sensor data to my own server or a custom endpoint
Yes, The GW2000 offers flexible configuration options. You can set it up to send data to your own web server or specific API endpoints, making it ideal for bespoke monitoring solutions or for integrating the data with your own analytics framework.
How do I setup or configuration the GW2000
The GW2000 is designed with user-friendliness in mind. An intuitive web interface, typically accessed via a local network IP address and the Ecowitt mobile application simplify sensor pairing, network configuration, and integration with both Ecowitt’s native services and third-party platforms.
