Device Functionality

What ports do the YoLink hubs use?

Ports 8001-8002 are used, and traffic is TCP only.

How often do YoLink devices communicate with the hub?

YoLink devices are classified as:

  • Class A: Battery-powered, e.g., door and leak sensors; send updates every 4 hours.
  • Class C: Mains powered, e.g., energy plugs; always active, send updates every 30 minutes.
  • Class D: Dual-powered (mains & battery), e.g., valve controllers; always active, send updates every 4 hours.

Does replacing batteries affect D2D pairing?

No, Control D2D pairings remain intact after battery replacement.

How many D2D connections can one device support?

A single device can support up to 128 D2D connections.

 

Connectivity & Compatibility

Do YoLink devices work globally?

Yes, YoLink devices work globally as long as the hub and smartphone (iOS \ Android) have an internet connection. However, wireless product regulations differ by country. YoLink products are FCC-certified (US and Canada) and some meet UK certifications. Note, the YoLink Plug Series only supports 100-120V.

Do I need a hub to get my YoLink device online?

Yes, the YoLink Hub is essential for connecting devices to the internet and the cloud. The hub enables integration with third-party systems and supports over 200 devices. YoLink uses LoRa technology for long range and superior obstruction penetration.

Why can’t UC and EC products work together?

US (UC) and European (EC) devices can’t be used together due to differing security policies. They require separate hubs and servers. You can manage automations separately by switching the service area in the YoLink app.

 

Notifications & Alerts

Does D2D affect app notifications?

Yes, D2D is prioritised over app notifications. To receive both, ensure the sensor is triggered for a few seconds before releasing.

Does YoLink Control prevent alerts?

No, but if the hub is offline, alerts won’t be sent. Ensure water sensors remain triggered for at least 5 seconds to allow alerts to process.

How can I receive leak alerts but avoid offline notifications?

Disable the default alarm strategy and customise alerts for water detection only.

 

Security & Privacy

How secure is the YoLink system?

YoLink employs AWS security, encrypted communication, regular audits, and dynamic data encryption. Each device has a unique encryption key.

 

Platform & Forum Access

Is there a web-based app for YoLink?

No, but you can use the BlueStacks emulator to install the YoLink app on your PC. The Raedius web console is for commercial use. A PC app is planned.

Do you have a user forum?

Yes, join the YoLink Discord Power User Group by emailing [email protected] with “Discord Group” in the subject.

 

Power & Batteries

Why can’t I use rechargeable batteries?

YoLink uses non-rechargeable batteries to measure capacity accurately. Rechargeable batteries’ voltage fluctuations make this unreliable.

 

Technical Features

How do I reset a traditional water meter to zero?

Use a blower to push air back through the outlet. This applies to mechanical meters only.

What is the water temperature range for the YoLink mechanical meter?

The range is 5°C to 30°C.

What is the purpose of the black cap on the mechanical meter?

The black cap is for fine-tuning calibration during manufacturing and is sealed to prevent tampering.

 

Sensors & Readings

Why is there a temperature variance in my YoLink sensor?

The sensor is highly sensitive to environmental conditions like wind or dew. Place it alongside another model for 1-2 hours to verify accuracy.

Why does my freezer sensor show temperature spikes daily?

Spikes are likely due to the freezer’s defrost cycle, a standard part of its operation.

 

Firmware & Device Management

Why does firmware installation appear stuck at 100%?

If the screen shows “Green,” the update is complete. The 100% display will clear after a few minutes.

How do I activate two external alarms simultaneously?

Use the YoLink app to set up scenes or automation for both alarms.

 

Troubleshooting

What does “Unable to access the network” mean in the YoLink app?

Test accessing us.yosmart.com in a browser and send a screenshot. If the website works but the app doesn’t, check app permissions. If both fail, it may be a network issue.
